FROM STARTUP TO STANDOUT

 

Midwest Refrigerated Services (MRS) set out on their journey 10 years ago. Since then, they have evolved from a risky new business venture to a company that takes ownership in risk - and a company that is admired by both its clients and employees.

A PLAN TO DE-RISK 

In 2011, MRS partnered with HNI to confront the issue at hand – building an identity that employees, clients, and the industry could trust.

To ensure that they would stand out amongst the competition and be poised for growth, MRS embarked on the following key initiatives:

  1. Shifting to an ownership mindset. As a smaller company, everyone needed to think and act as if they were owners of the business.
  2. Building a unique brand that differentiated MRS in the marketplace through a new website, new outlook, and overall new approach to handling business.
  3. Developing a performance-driven insurance strategy to keep costs down. This included the establishment of the safety-first culture through company meetings, culture development and training, and setting clear expectations from the leadership team.
  4. Continuing to improve benefits by offering medical plan options, as well as adopting the ACO model while continuing to focus on offering an affordable benefits package for their employees.

BOOSTED PERFORMANCE

Today, Midwest Refrigerated is a a Top 25 North American Refrigerated Warehouse & Logistics Provider, operating over 75 trucks and multiple facilities sites with freezer and cooler storage, distribution and cross-docking services.

They have established a name for themselves as a leading load consolidation business - bringing many of the brands you find on your dinner table each night.
