THE GOODWILL STORY

CARING FOR EVERY TEAM MEMBER

 

 

Goodwill of North Central Wisconsin is passionate about using the power of work to help people reach their potential. This mission also guides Goodwill when it comes to providing awesome benefits to their team members. So, in 2012, Goodwill and HNI went back to the drawing board and reimagined how to deliver the best and most convenient care.

A PLAN TO DE-RISK 

Holistic wellness and healthcare is a top priority for Goodwill. Unfortunately, our healthcare system is often disconnected, leaving patients on their own to navigate between different providers. To help alleviate this burden for its team members, Goodwill decided to move to an Accountable Care Organization (ACO). The ACO transition was done gradually, starting with nearby zip codes and expanding outwards.

The phased in approach allowed Goodwill to continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of rollout communications. The phased in approach also allowed Goodwill to evaluate the ACO's results against the results of team members still on the traditional plan.

The ACO is reinforced by Goodwill's “Circles of Care” strategy. Under Circles of Care, Goodwill takes the holistic philosophy even further, by implementing programs such as:   

  • An onsite nurse (affectionately known as Nurse Jackie) available to support individual health and wellness coaching
  • Personal safety education and engagement campaign
  • Full time chaplain to provide emotional and spiritual support to the staff and their families
  • Financial coach focused exclusively on helping team members achieve financial stability and to develop a path to pursue their financial dreams

 

 

BOOSTED PERFORMANCE

True to their mission, Goodwill has been able to continue to provide its team members with an all-encompassing benefits package that is accountable for results. Financially, the ACO has been a great success as well, providing significant savings over traditional healthcare options.

Goodwill was recently awarded with the “Most Innovative Health & Benefits Plan” by the Institute for HealthCare Consumerism.
