10 Questions to Determine Employee Engagement

What advice would you give to a manager or leader to improve employee engagement?  Do you feel that your employees are happy and committed to the organization whereby they will do what is necessary in order to ensure the success of the company?  It is more than important to know the answer to these questions in today’s economic state where shortage of employees has caused a rise in overtime hours, increase in responsibility, and shortage of staff.  Find out if your employees are happy and committed to the organization simply by asking them.

Questions for employees

  • Do you know what is expected of you at work?
  • In the last week, have you received recognition for doing a good job?
  • In the last six months, has someone discussed the progress of your work?
  • Do you have a written growth plan agreed upon by yourself and your management team?
  • Are you asked to be involved in important company decisions or strategy meetings?
  • Do you feel your opinion on important matters seem to count?
  • Does your leadership/management team seem concerned about your work?
  • Are you equipped with the appropriate tools to do your work to your maximum potential?
  • Do you feel that your job is important towards meeting company goals?
  • Do you feel that your management team genuinely cares about your personal well being?

Asking the questions is just the first step

These are 10 very strong identifying questions to determine employee engagement in the workplace.  Employees need to be motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. This is a great starting place to determine if and how you need to develop a strategy to create strong employee engagement. Use the feedback from these questions and your own audit of the workplace to develop a strategic plan addressing the weaknesses and enhancing the strengths you discovered.
