NASA, like many companies, was experience a struggle between meeting deadlines and doing so safely. 

In 1986, the explosion of The Challenger was the result of what Mike calls an 'inevitable outcome' after years of eroding cultural values. Safety warnings were consistently disregarded in favor of operational goals.

Many transportation companies face these competing priorities on a daily basis. Mike will share how NASA turned its culture back around.

Mike Mullane, a West Point graduate, was selected as a Mission Specialist in 1978 in the first group of Space Shuttle Astronauts. He completed three space missions and logged 356 hours in space aboard the Shuttles Discovery and Atlantis.
