What is the Safety Manager Bootcamp?
 

In a transportation company, risk is ever-present. Many of these risks are obvious - like proper safety procedures and risk management. But there are also many risks that are hidden - in areas like Leadership, Culture, and Operations.

This 12-session course will cover a balance of topics that include compliance, as well as safety, culture, and more. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Who should join this program?
 
This program is for safety managers, risk managers, or other leaders in your company that have a role in safety and compliance. 
 

 

 
The topics covered will be split 50/50 between safety culture and compliance
 
 
Safety & Culture topics covered include:
  • Dispatch can make or break a company
  • Fitting in the culture – How to create a better culture
  • How to address the bad apples
  • Know enough about your employees can save their lives
  • Not all managers are leaders
  • ELD, Telematics and Cameras - How to best utilize technology to keep the roads safe.

Compliance topics covered include:
  • Understanding a Compliance Review
  • Submitting a Data Quality Review & Crash Data Preventability request.   
  • CSA – What is it and how can you use it to monitor your operations
  • Safety management practices with your vehicle maintenance program
  • Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and Drug Alcohol Program
  • Responding to a serious CMV crash

 

HOW IT WORKS
             
 
 
We will meet 12 times (once per month for a year) at the HNI office in New Berlin, WI from 9:30am-11:30am. If you are unable to attend a session, we will provide a short video recap of the topic.
 
In order to receive a certificate of completion for the course, at least 10 sessions must be attended in-person.

Abrahamson, Mark

MARK ABRAHAMSON
As a former Wisconsin State Patrol officer and FMCSA inspector, Mark knows compliance from the inside out. 
 
Mark will guide companies and how they can be proactive to avoid compliance issues, as well as coach teams on how to work their way through an issue or incident. 
 

Jake Jansen BW

JAKE JANSEN
Jake was a former safety manager and HR director for a large and quickly growing fleet. 
 
Jake's operations expertise allows him to show how to address and integrate changes.​ Jake's first-hand experience in connecting with drivers has granted him the ability to predict and address obstacles in implementing changes​.
