It's no secret we're a little truck crazy at HNI. Transportation is a legacy industry for us, and we love to dig into the latest news, regulations, and trends in transportation.
We're smack in the middle of National Truck Driver Appreciation & Wellness Week, which is September 15 to 21. It's only fitting to salute the heart of the transportation industry — truck drivers.
From furniture to farm goods, machinery to metallic ore, truck drivers move a staggering $4,422 in shipped goods per second. If it's at your home or office, chances are a truck brought it there! The commercial transportation industry is dominated by trucking. The trucking sector collects 83.7% of commercial transportation revenue — more than five times the combined revenues of water, rail, and pipeline. And truck drivers are behind the wheel at every turn.
To celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation & Wellness Week, HNI made customized banners for motor carriers. They're a literal sign of thanks to truck drivers! Here's a video that shows where some of these banner have turned up — and it includes a poetic ode to truck drivers:
